Secondary Genesis Part 3: Crossing the Gravitational Shear [ sci-fi story based on the Avi Loeb perspective of a second-generation biosphere orbiting a dying star ].

Carrying out the grand plan fell squarely upon Modupe, Ogunmodede, and Shango aboard the orbital platform Pericenter-One.

The station hovered at the absolute atmospheric boundary of Orantuozegulanaganobulan_4Quashu, tethered by immense carbon-nanotube conduits directly to the planet’s magnetic poles.

As they activated the superconducting magnetic flux ropes, the space-time fabric surrounding Sol-B began to warp violently. The severe frame-dragging effects generated by the white dwarf's immense density triggered an immediate, crushing gravitational time dilation.
"The magnetic Reynolds number is fluctuating!"
Shango shouted over the roar of the sub-atomic static, his avian crest flaring a warning crimson as he channeled currents directly into the ignition coils.
"The plasma stream is experiencing tearing-mode instabilities!
The engine's magnetic pressure is completely collapsing under the star's surface gravity!"
Modupe did not hesitate.
She bypassed the automated safety dampeners and jammed her primary wing interface directly into the quantum-confinement matrix, manually modulating the critical plasma beta ratio. Beside her, Ogunmodede strained against the pulling forces to reinforce the structural integrity of the magnetic tethers. The sheer gravitational shear felt like an invisible vise crushing their silicon-based skeletal structures.
Through the viewscreen, Sol-B looked like a violent, amethyst eye, ripping at their very cells with relentless photoionization.
Every single second Modupe spent holding the magnetic choke stable cost her weeks in relative planetary time. She could feel the brutal Lorentz forces tearing through her crystalline feathers, fracturing the delicate photovoltaic lattices that kept her conscious.
"Resonance achieved!" Modupe roared into the comm-net.
The Alfvén waves locked into perfect stabilization.
A brilliant, tightly columned beam of hyper-accelerated degenerate ions erupted from the pole of the white dwarf, stabbing out into the cosmic void. The colossal reaction thrust nudged the hyper-dense star, and with it, the tightly bound planet Orantuozegulanaganobulan_4Quashu smoothly glided into a cleared, stable corridor of space-time.
Modupe collapsed onto the deck plates as the automated medical drones, pre-programmed by Yemoja's life-support teams, rushed forward to stabilize her fracturing crystalline anatomy.
Pericenter-One slowly decoupled its magnetic tethers, slipping back down to the planet's surface.
When Modupe finally stepped out into the capital city of Penumbral Prime, she was met by a jubilant, thriving crowd led by an older Nelson Mandela and Mama Fela.
The time dilation on the edge of the degenerate star had extracted its heavy price: while she, Ogunmodede, and Shango had fought the engine for a mere forty minutes, forty years had swept across the planet below.
Her peers were aged or gone, but their sacrifice had achieved the impossible. The society they saved had flourished in total peace, turning the tidally locked world into a permanent paradise.
She looked up at the sky. Sol-B remained fixed at the horizon, a stable, unblinking pearl of amethyst light. It would continue to burn, fueled by its own electron degeneracy pressure, for trillions of years to come. They had lost a few decades of their past, but together, through unity and science, they had engineered an eternal future in the secondary genesis of  Orantuozegulanaganobulan_4Quashu.
