The atmospheric sky over The Lagosian Plasma Reef burned a violent neon blue. Deep within the capital spires of Augmort, a multi-generational blood feud was about to shatter the planet’s sovereign peace.
For decacycles, the grand kingmakers of the capital had suppressed Prince Kosoko. They deemed him too volatile, too heavily invested in the lucrative, illegal trade of Neuro-Cores—the harvested, digitized consciousness of sentient beings sold to deep-space merchants. 
The Prime Minister, Chief Eletu Odibo, had repeatedly blocked Kosoko from the throne. Eletu had even weaponised cyber-warfare against Kosoko’s faction, purging his sister’s data-signature from the central matrix and desecrating his matriarch’s ancestral memory banks by dumping her physical bio-remains into the volatile plasma tides below the spires.
In 1841, when the ruling monarch passed, Eletu Odibo bypassed the exiled Kosoko once more, elevating the mild-mannered, tech-diplomat Akitoye to the seat of Oba of the Realm.
It was a catastrophic error of empathy. Seeking to heal the fractured royal dynasty, Oba Akitoye overrode his council's warnings. He granted the exiled Kosoko amnesty, welcoming him back to Augmort and giving him command of the Ereko District Sector.
Kosoko did not seek peace; he sought vengeance. Using his restored access to the planetary grid, he quietly weaponised a faction of highly trained, youthful combatants. By July 1845, he launched Ereko’s Rebellion, triggering a devastating system-wide cyber and physical assault remembered as the Salt-Water War.
Kosoko’s rogue gun-skiffs choked the atmospheric lanes. For three agonizing weeks, they laid siege to Akitoye’s grand spire. Akitoye’s defenses crumbled, forcing the peaceful Oba to flee via a stealth escape pod toward the outer rim of Badagry.
With the capital secured, Kosoko extracted a horrific, poetic vengeance against his chief rival. He captured Chief Eletu Odibo, locked him inside a hyper-dense, pressurized stasis pod, overcharged the thermal reactors until the hull glowed white-hot, and jettisoned the screaming Prime Minister straight into the burning abyss of the Plasma Reef. Kosoko was now the absolute ruler of Augmort.
Act II: The Chrono-Feud & The Boiling Cannons (December 1851)
For six cycles, Kosoko ruled Augmort with an iron fist, his wealth multiplying through the forbidden Neuro-Core traffic. But from the edge of the system, the deposed Akitoye played his final, desperate card. He contacted the Britannic Stellar Hegemony—a massive, expansionist galactic empire boasting unparalleled military might. 
Akitoye offered them a Faustian bargain: help him reclaim his throne, and he would completely outlaw the Neuro-Core trade, opening Augmort’s vast resource grids to Britannic mega-corporations.
The Britannic Hegemony, led by Sector Consul John Beecroft, had long sought an excuse to annex the strategically vital Plasma Reef. They sent an armada of heavy Dreadnoughts to Augmort's orbit, presenting Kosoko with an ultimatum: sign the anti-traffic treaty and surrender sovereign control of the planetary gates, or face erasure.
Kosoko, backed by his legendary War Commander Oshodi Tapa, fiercely refused. "Augmort bows to no foreign empire," Kosoko transmitted back across the sub-space channels. "Our trade is our sovereignty."
On 26 December 1851, the sky above Augmort truly fractured. The Britannic fleet commenced a brutal, orbital bombardment. The local population called it the War of the Boiling Cannons.
Gigantic Britannic capital ships unleashed barrages of glowing plasma charges that rained down on the capital spires like falling stars. Kosoko’s youthful warriors fought with terrifying ferocity, utilizing localized atmospheric shields and hyper-frequency turrets designed by Oshodi Tapa to inflict heavy damage on the invading Britannic drop-craft. The sky boiled with exploding metal and burning energy fields.
For three days, the Chrono-Feud raged across physical sectors and digital matrices. But the sheer, endless firepower of the Britannic Hegemony could not be matched. As the primary spires began to collapse into the glowing reef below, Kosoko realized the capital was lost.
On 28 December 1851, under a heavy smoke screen of burning plasma, Kosoko, Oshodi Tapa, and their surviving loyalists boarded stealth skiffs. They slipped through the chaotic, blinding energy fields of the reef, escaping into the uncharted, lawless caverns of the Epe Asteroid Belt.

Epilogue: The Cession Matrix
On New Year’s Day, 1 January 1852, Britannic forces marched into the ruined capital and officially reinstated a broken Oba Akitoye. The puppet king immediately digitized his signature onto the Historic Cession Treaty, effectively converting the once-proud, independent world of Augmort into a client colony of the Britannic Hegemony.
Kosoko would survive in the outer rim, building a formidable rogue stronghold in the Epe asteroids that the Britannic fleet dared not cross, eventually forcing them to recognize his regional independence cycles later. But the geopolitical damage was done. The gates of Augmort were wide open to the empire, and the trajectory of the planet was altered forever.
